MINE EXPLOSIVE KILL 5 MILITARY MEN IN BORNO STATE

The Nigerian soldier's vehicle rammed into a mine suspected to have been planted by Islamic State group-aligned jihadists, exploded, and killed the five soldiers who boarded the vehicle in Borno State.


The information available indicates that the unit was on a routine patrol in Laayi village near the northeastern town of Damasak border with Niger on Monday 24th April 2023 when they drove over a mine.

Meanwhile, the jihadists had previously stricken the village in the night, kidnapping four residents including the local chief, and planting the explosives while retreating to restrict military men from trailing them.
