NAF Strike Leaves ISWAP Enclave in Ruins, Weakens Insurgent Network

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the Air Component of Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has recorded a major operational success following a precision airstrike on a terrorist enclave at Kangarwa in the Northern Tumbuns area of Borno State.

The operation, carried out on April 1, 2026, at about 1205 hours, was based on credible intelligence and supported by prior Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance missions, which confirmed the presence and activities of terrorist elements within the area.

According to military sources, several terrorists were observed within structures and concealed positions before the strike. Upon confirmation of targets, NAF air assets conducted multiple strike passes, delivering accurate bombardments on identified locations.

The airstrike reportedly destroyed key structures and logistics hubs while neutralising a significant number of fighters, leaving the enclave severely degraded. The operation also disrupted terrorist movement and weakened their operational capabilities in the area.

The strike is assessed to have dealt a major setback to ISWAP elements operating within the enclave, further limiting their ability to coordinate activities.

Military authorities noted that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist strongholds, support ground troops, and sustain pressure on insurgent groups across the North-East.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to continuing intelligence-driven air operations in coordination with ground forces until all terrorist enclaves are dismantled and lasting security is achieved.
