NAPTIP RE-UNITES 5-YEAR-OLD TRAFFICKED VICTIM WITH PARENTS, AFTER 3 YEARS OF SEPERATION

National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP), on Tuesday re-united a 5-year-old girl with her parents after not setting eyes on her for three years.

The child was allegedly abducted from Gombe State in 2018, and was taken to Anambra State and sold under the guise of adoption. The parents frantically searched for the little girl without any luck.

Eventually, the parents reported the case to NAPTIP. The Agency notified the Department of State Security (DSS) and the collaboration was able to trace the abductor. In the process, the agency rescued other children and arrested other suspects.

While handing the child over to the visibly elated parents, the DG NAPTIP, Dr Fatima Waziri-Azi lauded the efforts of the father of the abducted child for his relentlessness.

She stated that more percentage of human trafficking is done internally. He called on parents and the whole of society to support the fight against human trafficking.
