NDLEA Intercepts UK-Bound Cocaine, Meth; Raids Lagos Nightclub, Arrests Pretty Mike, Others

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered 70 parcels of cocaine concealed in cocoa butter cream containers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos. The illicit consignment, weighing 3.6 kilograms and bound for London, was intercepted on October 14, 2025, leading to the arrest of three suspects.

A cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, was first apprehended during routine checks on an Air Peace flight. Follow-up operations led to the arrest of Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, a healthcare worker, and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, CEO of Mutiu Adebiyi & Co.


In a separate operation, NDLEA officers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, foiled an attempt by a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, to smuggle 103.59 grams of methamphetamine to the Philippines. The drug was concealed inside a “Diabeta Herbs Coffee Tea” pack.

Similarly, Umar Abubakar, 40, was arrested in Kwara State with 21,950 capsules of Tramadol 250mg hidden inside a 100-litre water heater.


In Lagos, operatives raided Proxy Nightclub, Victoria Island, around 3 a.m. on October 26, where a drug party was in progress. Over 100 suspects were arrested, including the club owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike. Several cartons of Loud and laughing gas were recovered from the premises.


The agency also arrested Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, a mother of two alleged to be a major distributor of Canadian and California Loud in Lekki, Ikoyi, Ajah, and VGC. About 500 grams of the substance were seized during a raid on her residence.

In other states, NDLEA operatives intercepted 450,000 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 in Taraba, seized 162kg of skunk in Kogi, and recovered 128kg of the same substance in Nasarawa. Two suspects were also nabbed in Kaduna with 234kg of cannabis, while another group was caught along the Abuja–Kaduna highway with 8,600 pills of Tramadol and Rohypnol.


A 75-year-old man, Echendu Onuoka, and a 60-year-old woman, Aukana John, were arrested in Abia State with cannabis, while NDLEA officers in Ondo seized 150kg of skunk during a raid.


At Seme border, Jacob Ojugbele and Amusa Oluwabukola were apprehended with cannabis and 121 litres of skuchies, a psychoactive mixture made with blackcurrant, cannabis, and opioids. In Zamfara, Abubakar Ibrahim, 30, was arrested with an AK-47 rifle and over 1,700 rounds of ammunition en route to Bagega forest.


Meanwhile, the agency continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaigns across schools and communities nationwide, including in Oyo, Enugu, Kebbi, Taraba, Benue, and Kano States.


NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the various commands for their operations and urged sustained efforts in drug control through enforcement and public enlightenment.
