Nigeria Police Force Strengthens Collaboration with Banks to Tackle Cybercrime

The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has enhanced its partnership with banking institutions in the country to combat the growing threat of cybercrime and financial fraud.

A high-level delegation from the Body of Bank Chief Executive Officers in Nigeria visited the NPF-NCCC Headquarters in Abuja to discuss strategic collaboration in the ongoing battle against cybercrime. During the meeting, CP Ifeanyi Uche Henry, Director of the NPF-NCCC, reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to tackling cybercrime through proactive intelligence-driven policing, digital forensics, and robust partnerships with financial institutions.

CP Uche outlined the Centre's core responsibilities, including investigating and prosecuting cybercrime cases, conducting digital forensics, monitoring social media for cyber threats, and protecting Nigeria’s Critical Information Infrastructure. He emphasized the crucial role that banks play in the fight against cybercrime, given that financial systems are often targeted by cybercriminals.


Mr. Nixon Iwedi, Chairman of the Body of Bank Chief Executive Officers and CEO of Signature Bank, led the delegation and praised the Nigeria Police Force for its professionalism and tireless efforts to combat cybercriminal activities. He acknowledged the importance of strengthening cooperation between the police and banking sectors to address the challenges of cybercrime and financial fraud.

This visit marks a significant step in fostering collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the banking industry, aimed at protecting financial systems and securing the nation's digital infrastructure.
