The Nigerian Army has killed several top Boko Haram leaders at the Lake Chad Basin in Borno.
The leaders were killed by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole on Thursday, September 24, 2020.
The Boko Haram/ISWAP leaders killed during the operation include Abu Usman, Alhaji Shettima, Modu Mainok, Bukar Gana, Abu Summayya, Amir Taam and Amir Kuraish.
The successful operation also led to the destruction of camps and hideouts belonging to Boko Haram insurgents located at Tunbun Gini, Tunbun Nbororo, Tunbun Kayoma, Tunbun Kaza, and Tunbun Fulani at Lake Chad in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The coordinated precision ground and aerial intelligence led strikes against BOKO HARAM/ISWAP hideouts were launched less than 96 hours after the brave Nigerian Army transitioned in a fierce ambush battle with a suspected ISWAP unit between Damboa and Biu.
This development comes barely one week after the Nigerian Army arrested some arms dealer supplying weapons to bandits in the North West.
