Nigerian Army Rescues Kidnapped Victims, Arrests Suspects, and Seizes Weapons in Nationwide Operations

The Nigerian Army has recorded significant operational breakthroughs across multiple theatres between 27 and 28 August 2025, neutralising terrorists, arresting suspects, rescuing kidnapped victims, and seizing weapons, ammunition, and contraband. The coordinated operations underscore the Army’s resolve to restore peace and security nationwide.

North East:

Troops of 151 Task Force Battalion intercepted a truck carrying 142 bags of NPK fertiliser diverted from its approved destination, while 21 Brigade troops seized another truck with 100 bags concealed among food items. Both cases, suspected to be terrorist supplies, are under investigation. In a separate operation, 112 Battalion safely detonated two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Mafa–Ajiri road in Borno State.

North West:

Troops of 8 Division Garrison rescued two kidnapped victims in Sabon Birni and Isa LGAs of Sokoto State. One AK-47 rifle, three magazines, and ten rounds of ammunition were recovered. In Kebbi State, troops of 1 Battalion, working with vigilantes, arrested two suspected criminals in Ngaski and handed them over to police authorities.

North Central:

In Niger State, soldiers of 22 Brigade repelled a violent extremist attack on Babanna, neutralising one insurgent and recovering weapons and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 60 rounds of ammunition, 323 rounds of 7.62mm x 54mm, and a mobile phone. In Nasarawa, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke rescued a kidnapped victim in Keana LGA, arrested a suspected cattle rustler in Akwanga, and recovered N3,200 and a machete.

South-South:

Troops, in collaboration with the NSCDC and Tantita Security operatives, dismantled two illegal refining sites in Rivers State containing about 4,500 litres of stolen crude oil and 3,000 litres of illegally refined AGO. At Omoku, a vehicle carrying 600 litres of illegally refined AGO was intercepted. In Delta State, 181 Amphibious Battalion arrested eight suspects, including an impostor posing as a Lieutenant Colonel.

The Army said the operations disrupted criminal logistics, curtailed oil bunkering, and denied terrorists vital supplies.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Nigerian Army assured citizens that it remains steadfast in protecting lives, securing national assets, and fostering lasting peace to support national development.
