OAU STUDENT: OYO POLICE, AMOTEKUN FOIL KIDNAP ATTEMPT ON DECEASED'S BROTHER

Operatives of Nigeria Police and Amotekun Corps have foiled an attempt to abduct Olugbade, older brother of late Timothy Adegoke, who died mysteriously at the Hilton Hotel and Resorts, Ile Ife, Osun State.

Olugbade said he went to buy some groceries at a store in his neighborhood around 9pm on Saturday night when some yet to be identified men tried to force him into their vehicle, at Eruwa in Oyo State.

Recall that Olugbade and his family members have been unequivocal in the demanding justice for their late brother, who they believed was murdered in his hotel room.

IN November, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University Timothy Adegoke died under mysterious circumstances at Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Coroner’s inquest has linked his death to intense haemorrhage (bleeding) due to ‘severe traumatic injuries.’

Late Timothy was a master’s student at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. He lodged at the Hilton Hotel and disappeared after a day. His body was later discovered dumped in a bush, and was subsequently recovered for an autopsy.

Olugbade said the swift intervention of the Security men in uniforms saved him from the criminals, who were bent on whisking him away to an unknown location.

He said; “Three days ago, I went out to a store not far from our house to buy some things. It was around some minutes past 9pm. After buying the things, I came out of the store and was returning when I saw some men come out of a car that was parked close to the place. The car was parked there before I went to the store.

“The men just came towards me and said, ‘He is the one, go inside that car.’ They started pursuing me; they wanted to kidnap me. When I realised that, I started running, shouting and screaming and this attracted those nearby. The DPO, Eruwa division, tried and some policemen and Amotekun corps who were stationed at a nearby place came towards me.

“Immediately those men saw them, they ran back into their car and fled the area. In fact, the policemen and the Amotekun corps saved me from being kidnapped by those men.”

He said pleaded with the Police, other Security Agencies as well as well meaning Nigerians to come to his family's aid as they continually confront the onslaught from people who are hell bent on sweeping the allege murder of his brother under the carpet.

Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso was yet to respond to his messages to confirm the incident at the time of filing this report.
