Oyo Government Demolishes Suspected Kidnappers’ Hideout Linked to Adelabu Family Abduction

The Oyo State Government has pulled down a residential building in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun–Anaye Road in Ibadan after it was allegedly identified as a hideout used by suspects involved in the abduction of a relative of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu.

The demolished property, a three-bedroom bungalow, was reportedly connected to the kidnapping of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of the former minister, and her 12-year-old twin sons.

The demolition exercise was conducted on Monday by officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, with security support provided by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force as part of ongoing measures to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

Mrs. John-Paul and her children, Peter and Paul, were abducted on June 3, 2026, in the Elewura area of Challenge, Ibadan. The victims were later rescued by security operatives on June 6, following efforts to secure their release.

Authorities stated that the action forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to dismantle criminal networks and deny offenders access to locations used for planning and executing unlawful activities.
