One GPMG and three AK47 rifles were recovered from the suspects. The Police is on the trail of other fleing gang members.

In Plateau State, the Police paraded three ex-convicts, one Abel Nanfa, Nankum Peter and Jonah Patrick for their alleged involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping and car theft within the Jos metropolis.

The Police revealed that the suspects, after serving jail terms for various offences, formed a gang and returned to their criminal ways, before nemesis caught up with them.

They were nabbed in the process of selling off a Toyota corolla vehicle which they snatched at gun point from one of their victims in Jos. They were caught in possession of one AK47 rifle, one barretta pistol and twenty one rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

In another development, the Police Team arrested one Abubakar Haliru of Zaria in Kaduna State, who lured and handed over his cousin, one Binta Mohammed over to his suspected kidnap gang members in Galadimawa forest in Kaduna State.

However, luck ran out on the gang when Binta narrowly escaped and contacted the Police. Investigations revealed that Haliru and his crew are in the habit of taking advantage of family ties to deceive and abduct family members and close relatives.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba assured that the "Force will remain committed to cracking down on criminal networks, mopping-up illicit weapons in the hands of criminal elements and generally working toward enhancing public safety in the country".

He also urged citizens to continue to support and provide useful information to the police, as security is too important to the Police alone.
