CULT CLASH: POLICE ARRESTS LEADER OF AIYE CONFRATERNITY FOR KILLING HIS EYE COUNTERPART

The Lagos State Police command has arrested the leader of the Aiye confraternity in Bariga area identified as Segun Ezekiel for killing a certain Taye Gbalagbala, 30, the head of the Eye Confraternity in the area.


In a statement by the State's Police PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Ezekiel, 24, was arrested on March 31 for firing and killing his rival on March 28.


The Aiye leader is a notorious cultist and serial killer who has been unleashing mayhem on residents of Bariga area, Lagos State. He confessed that he killed Taye Gbalagbala alongside three other members of the Aiye confraternity in Bariga.


Lagos State Police Commissioner, CO Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that Ezekiel be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and said that a search is ongoing to arrest the fleeing cultists.


Security operatives in the State also arrested some armed robbery suspects on March 29 in Ikorodu. The police operatives attached to the Ikorodu division engaged the suspects who were operating in military uniform at No 41, Menulo Street, off Elepe Ikorodu, in a gun duel around 4.50am.



The criminals had attacked some residences at Menulo Street, off Elepe Ikorodu, cut the American fence wire, and invaded the premises.



The inhabitants of the house were robbed of valuables including laptops, phones, one PS-4, gold necklaces and wrist watches worth millions of naira.

During the gun battle between the criminals and the security operatives, two suspects suffered severe injuries and eventually lost their lives. The Police PRO said the remains of the deceased have been deposited at a public morgue.


Security operatives recovered several items from the criminals including: two (2) locally-made guns with four (4) live cartridges, one big cutter, three schizles, one jack, two scissors, one apple laptop, one catapult, bank ATM cards, three black bags, wrist watches, military Camouflage and the sum of four hundred and sixty thousand, six hundred and fifty naira only (#460,650).




CP Hakeem Odumosu, who applauded the security personnel for their bravery and gallantry in neutralising the suspects, ordered them to arrest other members of the gang and bring them to justice.


Recall that at the beginning of the year, the Police boss said he was not going to tolerate any form of criminality in the State.
