TERRORISM: NDA DON TO EXAMINE IMPACT OF INSURGENCY ON FOOD INSECURITY

Professor Usman A. Tar, an Endowed Chair of Defence and Security as well as Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Nigerian Defence Academy is set to critique the impact of a protracted and seemingly insurmountable insurgency on food security.

The event is a Public Lecture at Modibbo Adamau University, Yola in Adamawa State. The University holds its Public Lecture titled: "Conflict Continuum and Food Security in North Eastern Nigeria" on the 26th of January, 2022.

Eons Intelligence gathered from NDA sources that the event will be attended by scholars, government officials, development partners, defence and security practitioners, diplomats, journalists as well as members of the general public.

The Lecture is expected to examine the impact of the protracted conflicts, particularly, insurgency, resource wars, farmer-herder clashes and rural violence on food insecurity in the North East region.

Professor Usman is expected to, in his paper, trace the root and remote causes of human and food insecurity in the region. It will also discuss climate change, demographic explosion, deforestation, violent extremism, rural violence and government's ineptitude in general.

Issues like mass displacement and decimated agricultural activities will also not be spared in the lecture, according to feelers from the NDA. The lecture is expected to issue policy recommendations for the government, development partners, and local communities.
