SOLDIERS KILL 20 BOKO HARAM, ISWAP INSURGENTS IN BORNO

Twenty Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province, (ISWAP) terrorists, on Sunday, were killed during an attack launched by the Nigerian Army in the North-West of Baga town in Borno.


John Enenche, the Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, May 18, 2020, in Abuja.


Enenche said the military offensive was carried as a combined operation of 130 Battalion and the army super camp, Baga. 


According to Enenche, the terrorists were approaching villages surrounding Baga when the troops attacked and opened fire on them; however, nine soldiers were wounded and have been evacuated to Sector 3 hospital for medical attention. 


Six AK 47 Rifles, 520 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and five 36 hand grenades were recovered from the terrorists.


Similarly, In quest of ending terrorism in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday ordered a Special Force to launch a military offensive on bandits and kidnappers in Katsina.


According to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, the operation will be executed soon.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai commended the untiring and unrelenting efforts of troops for their professionalism and directs them to remain resolute toward eradicating the criminals from the North-east.
