TRAFFIC ROBBERY RETURNS TO LAGOS AS COMMUTERS TELL TALES OF WOES AND TRAUMA
Lagos residents bemoan the security situation in the city as traffic robbers have begun operating with impunity.
Commuters who ply Lekki-Ajah, Ikoyi, Ikeja, Ojuelegba, and Ojota share tales of their encounter with the daredevil robbers who take advantage of traffic gridlock to perpetuate their crimes.
Eons Intelligence gathered that at least three traffic robbery incidents occurred on Friday.
A commuter was attacked on Cele Bridge while in traffic and his two phones worth N1.15 million, as well as cash close to N700 thousand, was stolen from him at about 8 pm on Friday.
At about 7 pm on the same day, criminals armed with sophisticated weapons attacked commuters in Ketu, broke their side windows, and robbed with impunity.
A source told Eons Intelligence that another gang of robbers also robbed in Jibowu at 10 in the morning whereby the thieves took advantage of the traffic gridlock and robbed commuters in broad daylight.
But the robberies are not restricted to commuters stuck in traffic alone.
Earlier in the month, a robbery victim reported that he was robbed in broad daylight in Ikeja. The robbers stopped him on the road and made him part with both his phone and money.
Another Lady, Identified as Precious on Twitter narrated how she got robbed at gunpoint last week Sunday around Awolowo road in Ikoyi.
She said the robbers took her phone and pieces of jewelry as well as her atm cards.
“So I got robbed at gunpoint on Sunday evening, two men approached me and told me if I didn’t cooperate they’d shoot me They took my iPhone, asked for the password, took my two ATMs, told me to remove my wristwatch and necklace Searched my bag and took the little cash I had leaving me stranded This happened around Awolowo road ikoyi but then I just thank God for life Cos it might have been another story, I’m still shaking but I’d be fine," she said.
