POLICE ARREST TRAFFIC ROBBERS IN LAGOS DURING #ENDSARS PROTESTS

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five traffic robbery suspects for dispossessing people of their valuables on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway during the gridlock on the highway as a result of the #ENDSARS protests.

    

A statement by Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed that the suspects took advantage of the ongoing protests in the State to perpetrate the act.


The suspects are: Olasunkanmi Oyewole, Quadri Lawal, Abraham Olateju, Tunde Bello and Olagoke Adewole.

The PPRO said the suspects were arrested by officers attached to Ketu Division on October 9 and 12, 2010 after robbing two persons from the Ketu end of the Lagos / Ibadan highway.


He added that the State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, charged policemen in the command to be prepared to provide adequate security for all and sundry despite the ongoing protests across the State.

Adejobi said: “The Lagos State Police Command has set machinery in motion to go after traffic robbers, who harass and rob innocent Lagosians in traffic within the State.


“The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, dropped the hint on Tuesday while addressing some officers at the command headquarters, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, in preparation for police operational activities during the ember months.”
