POLICE ARRESTS OFFICER WHO KILLED A MOTORCYCLIST OVER BRIBE
The Adamawa State Police Command on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, arrested an officer who allegedly killed a 20- year-old motorcyclist who refused to pay N100 bribe.
The incident happened at the police checkpoint in Wuro-ba Adamu village, Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Reports say The motorcyclist, Aroba Tambahjam was killed by the police officer identified as Richard Zaphet for refusing to part with a N100 bribe.
Few minutes after the incident, angry residents came out in multitudes to seek justice for the deceased. The mob attacked the police station and attempted to set it ablaze, but was saved by soldiers deployed by the State Government.
Sulaiman Nguroje, the Adamawa State Police spokesperson who confirmed the arrest said that the officer in question has been arrested and is undergoing thorough interrogation.
"Yes, the policeman in question Cpl. Richard Zaphet has since been arrested and brought to the State CID," said Nguroje.

The State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adeyanju has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police to investigate and report for immediate action.
The Command also assured the residents that justice would be done on the matter.
