PRIVATE HOSPITAL IN LAGOS DECONTAMINATED AFTER ADMITTING COVID-19 PATIENT.
A private Hospital at Ajah, St.Edwards Hospital had inadvertently admitted a patient with coronavirus symptoms on April 11th, 2020.
However, the patient did not give out any information on previous contacts with a COVID-19 case.
NCDC contacted the hospital on 12th April to take sample of the patient for clinical examination after suspicion by the doctors. The result however came back on 14th April showing that the patient is indeed positive. The patient was thereafter moved to the government designated isolation center after brief delay.
The hospital was decontaminated on April 15th, following the guildlines and directive from NCDC. The NCDC gave the directive that they con resume operations one hour after decontamination but the hospital decided to remain closed and reopen on Friday, April 17th, 2020.
The NCDC has directed that all visitors to St.Edwards Hospital between Saturday, April 11th and Wednesday, April 15th, 2020 should self isolate at home and maintain social distancing for the next 14 days.
