SECURITY OPERATIVES ARRESTS 10 SUSPECTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE COMMUNAL CRISIS IN OJU LGA OF BENUE STATE, RECOVER AMMUNITION
Security operatives have arrested ten persons in connection with the communal crisis in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State.
Eons Intelligence gathered that on Sunday a combined team of security operatives led by troops of Operation Whirl Stroke stormed Ibilla and Ukpa communities after a crisis ensued during the visit of a team from the National Population Commission to the area to carry out a demarcation exercise on Friday.
It was learnt that several houses were set ablaze and many people sustained severe injuries during the clash.
Sixteen riffles and several ammunition were recovered from the suspects in both communities.
Confirming the development, the Benue State Police PRO, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the arrest of the suspects, adding that they have been transferred to Makurdi for further interrogation.
