SECURITY OPERATIVES KILL THREE GUNMEN ALONG OSOGBO-ILESHA ROAD
Three gunmen were reportedly killed on Wednesday by the operatives of Osun State Police Command during an exchange of gunfire in Osunjela community, along Osogbo-Ilesha Road.
The incident occurred at Osunjela in Atakunmonsa West Local Government Area of Osun State around 3:48 pm on Wednesday.
Sources say that the gunmen, numbering about five, armed with pump action assault rifles and dane guns, ran into the checkpoint and wanted to escape.
Combined efforts by the special squad of the Commissioner of Police named Prompt Response Unit (PRU) and the hunters under the aegis of The Hunters Group of Nigeria engaged the gunmen in a shootout and neutralized three of them, while others fled into a nearby bush.
The spokesperson for the Osun State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Daniel Adigun, confirming the incident said, “Policemen and local hunters are presently combing bush in the area to apprehend those that fled.
