SOLDIER ELIMINATES SUSPECTED CRIMINAL IN SELF-DEFENCE AT WARRI ESTATE

The Headquarters, 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, has confirmed that a confrontation between a soldier and a suspected criminal at the Delta Marine Logistics and Technical (DMLT) Estate in Warri, Delta State, resulted in the death of the suspect on 13 October 2025.


According to a statement from the Brigade, the incident occurred when a soldier on duty at the estate gate halted a group of individuals attempting to force their way into the premises without undergoing mandatory security checks. When questioned about their identities and purpose of visit, the individuals reportedly became aggressive and unruly.


The situation escalated into a violent altercation during which one of the individuals attacked the soldier. Acting in self-defence, the soldier engaged the suspect using armed combat techniques, leading to injuries. The wounded suspect was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention but was later pronounced dead.


The Otu-Jeremi Police Division in Delta State was promptly notified of the incident for necessary investigation and action. The 63 Brigade emphasized the importance of obeying security procedures and remaining law-abiding while accessing restricted areas. It further reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the fundamental human rights of citizens while discharging its statutory duties across Delta State.
