STAFF OF NIMC IN LAGOS STATE COMMENCES STRIKE

Reports indicate that staff of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Lagos State  have commenced an industrial strike action.

It was learnt that large multitude gathered at the NIMC office in Alausa on Thursday as early as 8am but the staff there said they had downed tools.

One of the Staff who spoke with Channels TV revealed that the decision to go on strike was to demand better welfare packages from the Government.

He said the recent spike in the number of visitors to the agency for registration of National Identification Number (NIN) has caused lots of stress to the staff.

According to his narration, NIMC workers needed to be paid more for conducting the exercise which he described as 'an extra duty.'

Apart from the demand for allowance, he also said the Government does not care about their safety.
