Troops Ambush Insurgents Off Kaduna-Abuja Highway, Neutralize Three

Troops of Sub-Sector 4, Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully ambushed and neutralized three violent extremists and insurgents (VEIs) near Ngwagi Hill, Gwagwada Community, off the Kaduna-Abuja highway in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

The operation was launched following credible intelligence on insurgent movements in the area. Acting swiftly, the troops were deployed on a long-range fighting patrol to intercept the insurgents at a likely road-crossing point. At approximately 5:30 PM, the ambush was executed, resulting in the elimination of three armed insurgents.


During the operation, the troops recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including:


Two AK-47 rifles


Eight AK-47 rifle magazines


374 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 special ammunition


88 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 NATO ammunition


One Infinix mobile phone


Medical supplies, clothing, and dry rations.

The successful operation highlights the troops’ high combat efficiency and the effectiveness of intelligence collaboration between the military and security agencies.

Commending the troops, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, praised their resilience and professionalism. He urged them to sustain the momentum until all criminal elements operating within the sector’s area of responsibility are neutralized.
