Troops Arrest Another Suspect Linked to NIPSS Attack in Plateau

Troops of Sector 6 have arrested another suspect allegedly connected to the recent attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area.

According to Zagazola Makama, the suspect, identified as Paul Kolsen, was apprehended on July 5 at about 3:30 p.m. in Farm Center after intelligence operatives tracked him down.

The sources disclosed that Kolsen was arrested while receiving treatment for a gunshot wound believed to have been sustained during the failed attack on the institute.

The arrest marks another development in the ongoing investigation into the assault on the NIPSS facility, which has already resulted in the apprehension of other suspects.

The attack occurred on July 2, when troops successfully repelled an attempted assault on the strategic institution. During the operation, one suspected attacker was killed while others fled into nearby rocky terrain.

Security forces also recovered a service rifle bearing registration number CO-3175, which military authorities said had been stolen from a soldier killed during an earlier attack on troops at the Federal College of Land Resources Technology, Vom, on April 11.

The recovery of the rifle prompted security agencies to expand investigations into possible links between the latest attack and previous assaults on security personnel operating within the Kuru–Vom axis.

Paul Kolsen remains in custody as investigators continue efforts to determine his alleged involvement in the attack and identify other members of the suspected criminal network.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that intelligence-led operations are ongoing to apprehend other suspects and dismantle the group allegedly responsible for the attack.
