TROOPS NEUTRALISE SCORES OF ISWAP/BH FIGHTERS, LOSE TWO SOLDIERS AS TERRORISTS ATTACK MILITARY BASES IN BORNO
The Nigeria Military, comprising of Land and Air Component Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), on Sunday night succesfully repelled attacks by ISWAP/BH terrorists at two seperate locations, leading to the annihilation of the terrorists in large numbers.
Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists first launched an audacious attack on the Forward Operating Base, Gajiram Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State at about 3.30pm, according to Military sources, while another one was carried out in Gajiram Local Government Area on Sunday night.
The Nigerian Military Forces reportedly displayed a good style in decimating the terrorists. According to Military sources, the terrorists were intentionally allowed to advance to target, while the Air Component was placed on standby. They were said to have suffered huge blows in the two attacks, mostly from aerial assault.
At Gajiram, the terrorists were with about 16 Guntrucks. The Military quickly launched a counter attack, thus preventing them from causing maximum mayhem.
Troops, liasing with the Closed Air Support of Super Tucanos engaged and neutralized scores of ISWAP fighters in the ground and aerial battle.
After the two battles, a large number of combat items were recovered from the terrorists. These include: 3 guntruck, AA gun, AK 47 rifles and Shilka guns.
Sadly, two Nigerian Soldiers paid the supreme price in the battle at Gajiram.
Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations expressed satisfaction with the gallantry of his men. He said the surviving terrorists escaped the scene in complete disarray. He commended his brave Soldiers and prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead Soldiers.
