Troops Neutralize Six Terrorists in Sokoto State Operation

Troops of the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Brigade have successfully neutralized six terrorists in a coordinated operation targeting Lakurawa insurgents in Gudu Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

A statement issued on Thursday by Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, detailed the operation's success and its associated challenges.

During the intense firefight, troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one box of 12.7mm ammunition. However, the operation came at a significant cost, as five soldiers tragically lost their lives in the line of duty.

"Despite this success, the operation came at a heavy cost, as five gallant soldiers tragically lost their lives in the line of duty," the statement read.

In the aftermath of the operation, the military urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to terrorism or security threats in Gudu LGA and neighboring areas to the appropriate authorities.

The statement emphasized that public cooperation is critical in ensuring the safety of lives and the maintenance of peace in affected communities.
