Troops of Operation Hadin Kai Neutralise Terrorists in North-East, Recover Arms and Motorcycles
Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have recorded major successes in a series of coordinated counter-terrorism operations across Borno and Yobe States, targeting Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters.
On August 22, 2025, troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade at Kumshe, Borno State, repelled a night attack on their Forward Operating Base by a large number of heavily armed terrorists. Supported by Nigerian Air Force platforms, the troops inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers through surveillance-led precision bombardments. Exploitation of the area revealed over 20 terrorist corpses, including dismembered remains hastily buried in shallow graves, alongside recovered weapons.
On the same day, Sector 1 troops conducted offensive operations at Dipchari near Banki Junction in Bama Local Government Area. Following a fierce firefight, several terrorists were neutralised. Recovered items included:
1 Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tube
2 AK-47 rifles
2 magazines
16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
2 motorcycles
In a related development, on August 23, 2025, troops of Sector 2, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), carried out a long-range tactical operation around Ndoksa general area near Buni Gari in Yobe State. The operation resulted in the neutralisation of more terrorists, with one AK-47 rifle and two motorcycles recovered.
Military authorities noted that the sustained operations have denied the insurgents freedom of action, degraded their firepower, and disrupted logistics within the region. The high command commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them to maintain the momentum.
