
Troops Rescue 101 Kidnapped Victims, Neutralize 10 Terrorists in Katsina, Zamfara
Troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the Air Component of Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 101 kidnapped victims in Kankara, Katsina State, and Shinkafi, Zamfara State, following coordinated military operations on March 17 and 18, 2025. During the operations, 10 terrorists were neutralized in an encounter at the Faru District of Maradun Local Government Area (LGA), Zamfara State.
The offensive began in Katsina State, where troops launched an assault on a terrorist enclave at Pauwa High Ground in Kankara LGA, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists and the rescue of 84 kidnapped individuals. The rescued victims were handed over to local government authorities for further assistance.
In Zamfara State, acting on intelligence about terrorist activities in Bagabuzu, Faru District, Maradun LGA, troops engaged the assailants, neutralizing seven terrorists and recovering a motorcycle and other items. Additionally, 17 captives who had been held by a terrorist kingpin were freed from Tsibiri and Doka villages in Shinkafi LGA. The rescued individuals are currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to securing communities in Katsina and Zamfara States, urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperative to support ongoing efforts in combating terrorism.
