Troops Uncover Illegal Arms Factory in Nasarawa, Arrest Suspect

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have uncovered an illegal arms manufacturing site in Agwatashi, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, arresting one suspect during a patrol operation.

The discovery was made by troops from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Idadu while conducting routine fighting and confidence-building patrols. Several suspects reportedly fled the scene on sighting the troops, but one individual, identified as 26-year-old Baba Ogar from Arusu village in Kokona LGA, was apprehended while attempting to evade arrest.

Items recovered at the site included six locally fabricated pistols, tools suspected to be used for weapon production, N40,500 in cash, and a mobile phone. Preliminary findings indicate the location served as an illegal arms factory supplying weapons to criminal elements within and outside the area.

The suspect is currently in custody, while investigations continue to track other fleeing accomplices. The Force Commander, OPWS, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and urged continued intelligence-driven operations, while calling on residents to support security efforts with credible information.
