UAE RESEARCH INSTITUTE HAS DEVELOPED A BREAKTHROUGH TREATMENT FOR COVID-19
An Abu Dhabi research institute has developed a breakthrough treatment for COVID-19 which could make a quantum leap in the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the UAE has said.
The Director of Strategic Communications, Foreign Affairs, Hend Al-Otaiba, on Twitter, said The Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center has developed a new treatment “that involves extracting stem cells from the patient's blood and re-entering them after activating them into the lungs by inhaling them with a fine mist that regenerates the lung cells.”
According to her, the treatment has undergone clinical trials and 73 cases recovered completely without any harmful side effects. The cases were moderate to severe she added.

The Director said more trials will be carried out in the coming weeks.
If the clinical trials are successful, “this treatment can provide us with an opportunity to coexist with the virus until the vaccine becomes available,” she said.
The UAE has recorded a total of 13,038 cases of the coronavirus with only 2,543 recoveries as of May 1.
The WHO has not responded to the UAE’s claim as at the filing of this report
