(VIDEO) SEVERAL INJURED, VEHICLES RAZED AS NEMA RECOVERS THREE BODIES IN IKEJA TANKER EXPLOSION
Several persons on Thursday night sustained severe injuries of varying degrees while about 25 vehicles were razed following a tanker explosion that occurred along Mobolaji Bank Anthony way, Ikeja, Lagos State.
Eons Intelligence gathered that the tanker exploded around 10.32pm on Thursday night as a result of leakage while on motion inward Ikeja, leaving about three persons dead.
The fire was put out around 12.30am at midnight with the help of five fire trucks from the Lagos State Fire Service, and two trucks from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Response Unit (LASEMA).
It was learnt that 13 persons, comprising nine males and four females were brutally injured from the inferno. They were immediately rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for medicare.
Four of the victims who suffered severe burns were evacuated to the Burns Centre, General Hospital, Gbagada, around 2.30am, on Friday.
Ibrahim Farinloye, Acting Zonal Coordinator, South-West Zonal Office, NEMA, who confirmed the incident on Friday said the resulting fire travelled with the wind to Ogun State Property Investment Company (OPIC) Plaza beside Sheraton Hotel, which houses different commercial outfits, including a Chinese Restaurant.
“We have so far recovered three bodies from the incident. The bodies were recovered from the generator house of OPIC Plaza and the restaurant. Search and rescue is still ongoing from the collapsed buildings,” he said.
