APC LEADERSHIP CRISIS: PRESIDENCY SAYS THE LAW IS ON VICTOR GIADOM'S SIDE

President Muhammadu Buhari has recognised Victor Giadom as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC.

The Spokesperson to the President Garba Shehu revealed in a statement on Wednesday evening that President Buhari would be attending the virtual meeting organised by Victor Giadom on Thursday, June 24.

"The President has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman," the statement read.

The ruling party had been embroiled in a power struggle after a court upheld the suspension of its erstwhile Chairman Adams Oshiomhole.

The National Working Committee on June 16  announced Abiola Ajimobi, the former Governor of Oyo state as the Acting Chairman, a move that was frowned upon by some members of the party because of a court order that gave Victor Giadom the mandate to pilot the affairs of the party after Oshiomhole's suspension.

"In addition to the President, the Giadom meeting will, hopefully, be attended by our Governors and the leaders of the National Assembly," the statement read.
