TROOPS OF OPHK NEUTRALIZE ISWAP ATTACKERS, RECOVER LOGISTICS IN BORNO
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have launched a decisive counter-offensive, repelling an ISWAP attack and neutralizing several terrorists in Borno State.
On 5 February 2026, ISWAP terrorists attempted to attack the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Auno but were swiftly repelled by Sector 1 troops, who demonstrated exceptional firepower and tactical precision. Building on this success, OPHK troops, along with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), launched a counter-offensive on 9 February along the Komala axis in Konduga LGA. The troops engaged the retreating terrorists up to the Gidan Kaji axis, neutralizing 16 terrorists and forcing many others to flee with severe injuries.
During the operation, troops recovered over 20 bicycles, a large cache of logistic items, weapons, and other supplies critical to terrorist operations. Additionally, in a significant blow to the terrorists’ logistics, OPHK forces arrested suspected ISWAP suppliers carrying a large quantity of drugs intended for terrorist activities around the Bukarti axis.
On the same day, troops foiled a kidnapping attempt along the Buratai-Kamuya road. After detecting terrorist activity, troops pursued the attackers, who abandoned their victims and retreated into the bushes. Two victims, Mallam Idris Adamu and Mallam Muhammadu Safiyanu, were rescued and safely reunited with their families in Buratai.
Furthermore, in a separate operation along the Chibok-Damboa axis, troops successfully rescued 9 kidnapped victims, further demonstrating OPHK’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian efforts and the protection of civilians in the region.
This operation reaffirms OPHK’s dedication to dismantling terrorist networks and enhancing the security of the North East.
