SECURITY ALERT: FRESH ATTACK IN PLATEAU COMMUNITY LEADS TO 7 DEATHS AND 23 HOUSES BURNT
Reports indicate that no fewer than seven (7) persons have been killed following an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Hilke and Nkiedoro communities both of Bassa LGA, Plateau State.
According to witnesses, the suspects stormed the community in their numbers on 1st April, 2020, at about 1910hrs and set houses on fire.
A total of twenty three (23) houses were affected, while most of the deceased victims are aged persons who were unable to escape the carnage as they were consumed by the inferno beyond recognition. Among the victims also were two Caregivers and their patients.
This latest attack is coming barely 24 hours after an earlier attack on Ancha community of the same Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State which happened on 31st March 2020.
The names of casualties of the attack as published include:
1. Izinpa Muntu, 72 years.
2. Madah Imeh, 80 years.
3. Jummai Geye, 78years.
4. Gado Muntu, 67years.
5. Mary Alhassan, 70years.
6. Gado Ngulu, 90years.
7. Rigwe Muntu, 84years.
The recurring attacks on communities by suspected bandits/ Fulani herdsmen have further heightened tension in the community as the people are calling on Government to protect them against these attacks.
