FG EVACUATES 256 STRANDED NIGERIANS FROM MOROCCO AND NIGER
The Federal Government has evacuated 256 stranded Nigerians in Morocco and Niger Republic.
Of the 256 Nigerians, 98 were evacuated from Morocco and are expected to be back home on Thursday, July 30th, 2020, while 158 were evacuated from Niger Republic, and they arrived on Wednesday night.
The flight from Morocco departed at 9am with 98 Nigerians on board the Royal Air Maroc.
The Morocco returnees are mainly professionals and students from various institutions.
The flight from Niger Republic arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at about 10.00 pm via Air Peace.

The flight was arranged by the EU, IOM in collaboration with the Nigeria mission.
The evacuees are among thousands of Nigerians who were stranded in various countries abroad as a result of the global lockdown imposed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of foreign Affairs said that one of the Migrants, Aishatu Abdullahi could not make the flight as she was delivered of a baby boy on 24th July, 2020.
“Mrs. Abdullahi, her husband, the newborn child as well as three of their other kids will remain in Niger until such a time when another trip is organized,” the ministry said.
It also announced that few Nigerians were unable to make the flight because they tested positive for COVID 19.
Those who made the trip back home tested negative.
All the evacuees are expected to embark on 14 day self-isolation as stipulated by the PTF on COVID-19.
