Abia Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims, Recover N2 Million Ransom, Vehicle, and Other Exhibits

Operatives of the Abia State Police Command have rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered N2 million cash, a red Lexus 350 SUV, and other exhibits in a major breakthrough against kidnapping syndicates in the state.

The victims, identified as Onyedikachi Peter Onyegsi, 42, from Akpou, Isuochi (Abia State); Ifeanyi Nnabuife, 44, and Amarachi Nwaebubu, 26, both from Anambra State, were rescued on July 12, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m. by the Command’s Intelligence Response Unit (IRU), in collaboration with tactical teams.

The operation followed a report lodged on April 12, 2025, concerning a kidnapping incident that took place at Afojide Market, Isuochi. Acting on credible intelligence, the police moved swiftly to secure the victims’ release.

During the rescue operation, officers recovered a red Lexus 350 Jeep, N2 million in cash—believed to be part of the ransom—three mobile phones, and two leg chain shackles. Some suspects linked to the abduction have been arrested and are currently under interrogation.

Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, commended the efforts of the operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eradicating all forms of criminality in the state. He assured residents of the Command's dedication to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.

The police have urged the public to continue providing timely information to aid ongoing efforts against crime across Abia State.
