CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF APPLAUDS TROOPS OF OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE FOR SUBDUING BOKO HARAM/ISWAP ATTACK ON MONGUNO, BORNO STATE

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, has commended the Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole for their "resilience and bravery" in subduing the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists that attacked Monguno town on Saturday, June 13. 


This was disclosed in a statement by the Nigeria Army on Sunday, June 14.

In collaboration with the military Airforce, the Nigerian army thwarted the BHT/ISWAP terrorists' attempt to capture Monguno town on Saturday. 


Lt Gen Burutai said he is "highly impressed with the high number of casualties inflicted on the insurgents and the number of BHT members and equipment captured or destroyed by the gallant troops with the support of the Air Task Force." 


The Chief of Army Staff also mandated the Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole to consistently launch massive offensive patrols to all identified terrorists' hideouts within the region to annihilate the insurgents. 


More so, Lt Gen Burutai applauded Troops' performance in the ongoing Operation Accord and Hadarin Saji in the North West. 


 The Chief of Staff who recently left the frontlines to Abuja promised the troops and People in Kaduna, Sokoto, and Zamfara States that he would join the fighters soon "to ensure that the insanity of the bandits is decisively curtailed."
