COVID-19: PRESIDENT TRUMP SAYS HE IS TAKING HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE DESPITE EXPERTS WARNINGS
The US President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday that he has been taking hydroxychloroquine for about a week and a half to protect against the Coronavirus.
President Donald Trump had been touting hydroxychloroquine has a potential cure for COVID-19 despite the Food and Drug Administration’s warning that it could cause irregular heartbeats and other cardiac trauma.
While speaking at a meeting of restaurant executives, Trump said he began taking the antimalarial drug after consulting the White House doctor. Still, he did not mention the doctor prescribed it.

“You’d be surprised at how many people are taking it … The frontline workers many many are taking it,” Trump said.
“I happen to be taking it. I happen to be taking it. I’m taking it, hydroxychloroquine. Right now, yeah. A couple weeks ago I started taking it. Because I think it’s good, I heard a lot of good stories … I take a pill every day.”
The US president had earlier promoted the injection of disinfectants or light into the body to fight COVID-19 which led to a spike in calls to poison control centres according to NPR.
