NAFDAC DISCLAIMS AFFILIATION WITH PAXHERBALS OVER PRODUCTION OF CURE TO COVID-19

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) has debunked an advertorial that it is working with a research lab called Pax Herbal Clinic and Research Laboratories- a company who claimed to have produced a drug for COVID-19.

The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, in a statement, also denied the claim that the Agency has appointed experts to work with Pax Herbal.

"To set the records straight, at no time did the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, or anyone in the Agency appoint any expert or staff to work with PAXHERBAL on any project," the statement said.

Prof Adeyeye said NAFDAC turned down Pax Herbal's invitation to join their research team because "as a regulator of clinical trials, participation will be a conflict of interests."

The Agency, however, advised the company to carry out clinical trials to establish the efficacy of their product, the clinical trials, has not taken place, the statement said.
