GUNMEN ABDUCT COMMUTERS ON BENIN-AUCHI ROAD
Gunmen on Tuesday abducted commuters along the Benin-Auchi road in Edo State.
Chidi Nwabuzor, the State’s police PRO, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, stated that the victims were attacked in a commercial bus owned by Big Joe Transport near a village with a rubber plantation
He stated that the gunmen were repelled by policemen who were stationed at a checkpoint near the site of the incident.
Nwabuzor revealed that the police discovered three of the passengers could not be accounted for.
He noted that no death was recorded in the attack, and said that efforts were ongoing to locate the three missing passengers.
Several cases of kidnapping have been reported in recent weeks in Nigeria. On Tuesday, bandits kidnapped three persons in Kaduna. In a similar incident in Jigawa, the daughter of the former speaker of the State’s House of Assembly was abducted by armed men.
On December 21, Eons Intelligence reported that bandits broke into a residence in Dutse, kidnapped a lady, and carted away valuables.
In the same vein, gunmen on December 21 abducted two persons in Falgore community in Kano.
