GEORGE FLOYD: US EMBASSY IN NIGERIA JOINS PROTESTERS
Staff at the US embassy in Abuja on Monday, June 8, joined protesters around the world to speak against the unlawful killing of an African America man George Floyd, by the Minneapolis police.
The embassy posted a picture on Twitter showing the members of Staff taking a knee.
The post was accompanied by the words:
“Today at the Embassy, we joined together in 84 seconds of silence in solidarity with those at home and around the world protesting the murders of George Floyd & others. We sincerely hope that all of us will learn from this episode & use it as inspiration to create a better world.”
A video showing former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin put his knee on Floyd’s neck for about 8 minutes despite the deceased’s plea that he could not breathe sparked global protests. As it once again brought to fore the endemic racism in Western countries.
