SOLDIERS KILL 35 ARMED BANDITS, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS IN KATSINA AND ZAMFARA
Men of the Nigerian Army have killed thirty-five armed bandits in separate encounters at Katsina and Zamfara States.
On Sunday, January 17, soldiers killed thirty armed bandits at Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation was conducted by troops of Forward Operating Base Kekuwuje sequel to credible intelligence on movement of armed bandits with rustled animals at the area.
Subsequently, the gallant soldiers deployed to the target area, engaged the bandits in fierce gunfight which led to the killing of 30 bandits and recovery of 24 cows and unspecified number of sheep.

Similarly, on the same day, troops deployed at Maradun killed five armed bandits at Janbako village in Maradun LGA of Zamfara State.
The soldiers received information of reprisal attack by armed bandits at the area, then swiftly mobilized to the area to forestall the reprisal attack.
Eons Intelligence earlier reported that one of the Fulani bandits was killed by the community people known as Yankaze at Maradun Market.
The troops were ambushed around Janbako village where firefight ensued. The gallant troops overwhelmed the bandits and killed 5 of them, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Meanwhile, the soldiers are currently on the trail of the fleeing bandits.
In the same vein, two suspected bandits collaborators identified as Mustapha Sani and Murtala Sani were arrested at Dungun Muazu village in Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State.
The suspects who were arrested following a tip off are currently in custody of the security agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Thee Nigerian Army has recorded success recently in Katsina and Zamfara States.
On Saturday, January 9, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI killed about 50 armed bandits in Kuriya village of Kaura Namoda LGA of Zamfara State following credible intelligence.
During the encounter, four soldiers sustained severe injuries, and 272 livestock were recovered from the bandits.
On the same day, 62 rustled livestock were recovered from bandits by troops deployed at Dunya village of Danmusa LGA of Katsina State while on routine patrol.
As part of its efforts to check banditry, the Nigerian Army on Thursday December 24 raided a bandit hideout in Zamfara and also recovered several ammunition.
2 AK-47 rifles, 45 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one cutlass and one knife were recovered during the raid.
