NAF Airstrikes Devastate Bandit Convoy in Kebbi-Zamfara Axis, Neutralise Scores of Fighters

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully carried out a major offensive against armed bandits operating along the Kebbi–Zamfara axis, neutralising scores of fighters and crippling their logistics in a coordinated air and ground operation under Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

According to a statement released by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information, the airstrikes were conducted on July 9, 2025, targeting a convoy of nearly 150 motorcycles transporting armed bandits near Yarbuba in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Acting on real-time intelligence, NAF fighter jets executed precision strikes that resulted in heavy casualties and widespread disruption of the criminal group's movement.

The air assault, described as devastatingly accurate, scattered the convoy and forced survivors to flee into nearby forests, while continued aerial surveillance enabled follow-up operations. A subsequent ground exploitation mission conducted on July 10 confirmed the scale of the success, with several corpses of terrorists, burnt motorcycles, and weapons recovered from the scene.

The operation, a joint effort between air and ground forces, dealt a major blow to the operational capacity of terrorist elements in the region. The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilians, supporting troops on the ground, and preventing criminal groups from gaining operational freedom.

This development underscores the Air Force’s sustained efforts to degrade insurgent networks and restore peace in the North-Western part of the country.
