ROBBERS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RAIN AND TRAFFIC TO ROB ON OSHODI BRIDGE- EYE WITNESS REPORTS

A commercial cab driver has alerted road users to be wary of plying the Oshodi bridge when it rains as hoodlums now take advantage of the traffic to rob.

In the audio above, the driver recounted his experience with the daredevil robbers on Oshodi bridge while he was driving a customer to Lekki at about 3.15 pm.

According to the eyewitness report, the gang members were more than 20 young boys, and they were operating on both sides of the lane.

"There were so many trucks, so many trailers, and the traffic wasn't moving," he said.

He said he noticed one of the criminals suddenly break the glass of a Camry muscle ahead of him.

Soon one of the criminal gangs came to him asking for his money, as he did not respond, two more flanked his car and started intimidating him and hitting at the glass of his car.

Filling trapped, he desperately hit the car in front of him and the one behind him to get their attention. Fortunately, his move worked as more people noticed what was happening and raised the alarm.

"There was this particular convoy vehicle that had an armed policeman. The man came out and shot in the air 2 times. As he shot in the air, I discovered that all of them started running away," he said.

And that's how the driver narrowly escaped being robbed on Oshodi bridge. However, others were not so lucky.

"I counted at least four cars that they have broken both front windscreen and drivers side. Some of them, they even spoiled their handle. I saw a car, they spoil the man's bumper," he recounted.

The driver also raised concerns that he noticed that there was no single uniform officer at the scene of the crime, therefore, giving the robbers freedom to operate.
