BROTHER SETS SISTER ABLAZE FOR DISRESPECTING THEIR MOTHER
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Chima, for allegedly setting his elder sister, Victoria ablaze at their residence at the CAC bus stop, Okokomaiko, Ojo, Lagos State.
The genesis of the incident was as a result of a misunderstanding that ensued between Chima and his late sister, Victoria, who was assisting their mother in the kitchen.
The report indicates that Victoria, who was being cautioned by their mother, raised her voice which made Chima angry.
Out of vexation, Chima picked up a keg of petrol, poured the content on Victoria, a little droplet of the petrol spilt on their mother too.
In the blink of an eye, there was an explosion, Victoria and their mother were set ablaze.
Following the cry from the victims, and smoke from the kitchen noticed by nearby community members, they ran to see what was happening, the community members discovered Chima had set his mum and sister ablaze.
In the bid of rescue, the concerned community members rushed Victoria and her mother to a nearby hospital in Okokomaiko.
Victoria, who sustained deep burns, was referred to the General Hospital in Igando where she died, but the mother survived.
After Chima realised the gravity of what he had done, he tried to escape, but the youths in the community apprehended him.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana who confirmed the incident, said Chima has been arrested.

According to Elkana, Chima confessed to having set his sister ablaze for disrespecting their mother.
Elkana added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba for a thorough investigation.
