NAVY HANDS OVER N15M WORTH OF SEIZED ITEMS TO NIGERIA CUSTOMS

The Navy on Tuesday, July 7 handed over 15 million Naira worth of seized items to the Nigeria customs.

The confiscated items were seized from suspected criminals apprehended within the Badagry waterways in the space of two months.

They include five fibre speed boats fitted with outboard engines, one Toyota 4Runner SUV, Electronics and Electrical fittings. Others are: 86 fifty Kg bags of foreign parboiled rice, cosmetics products, 6 bales of used clothes and 6 cartons of frozen turkey.

The officer commanding FOB, Captain Chris Akokota, handed the seized items to Operation Swift Response (OSR) which was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 to checkmate illegal activities across Nigeria borders.

Captain Akokota said the Nigeria Navy had increased its patrol along waterways extending from Lagos – Republic of Benin border to check the importation of contraband goods and other illegal activities. He also credited their successful operations to the provision of required logistics support by the Chief of Naval Staff.
