Police Rescue 4-Year-Old Kidnap Victim, Arrest Fake Kidnapping Gang and Fraud Syndicate Across States
In a string of coordinated operations reflecting its commitment to internal security and crime prevention, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded significant successes across multiple state commands, including the rescue of a kidnapped child, arrests of fake kidnappers, and the dismantling of a financial crime network.
In Katsina State, police operatives cracked a complex case involving the alleged abduction of a 4-year-old girl. The case began on February 20, 2025, when Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters reported that his 14-year-old daughter and her 4-year-old sister had gone missing. Four months later, the older girl returned and confessed to orchestrating her disappearance in collusion with three accomplices aged 25, 19, and 16. The police arrested all suspects, and the younger child was successfully rescued unharmed.
Meanwhile, in Nasarawa State, a suspected arms trafficking operation was disrupted by police along the Giza–Kadarko Road in Keana Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, officers flagged down an individual riding an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle. The suspect fled into nearby bushland, abandoning the vehicle. A search of the motorcycle uncovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 45 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition. A manhunt is ongoing to apprehend the suspect.
In a separate development, a joint security team carried out a raid on June 13, 2025, at Kankare and Zurkuda villages in Birnin Kudu LGA of Jigawa State, arresting seven suspected fraudsters. The group is believed to be operating a wide network of financial crimes. Items recovered from the suspects include:
$46,100 in counterfeit United States Dollars
Four POS machines
13 Android smartphones
29 keypad phones
Six power banks
Two vehicle plate numbers
Multiple documents suspected to be connected to cyber fraud
All suspects remain in custody while investigations continue.
The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reaffirmed its dedication to deploying intelligence-led operations and community collaboration to dismantle criminal networks and safeguard lives and property. The Force urged citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and cooperative in the ongoing effort to ensure peace and security nationwide.
