ANONYMOUS JOINS #ENDSARS PROTESTS, CLAIMS IT HAS HACKED MULTIPLE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT WEBSITES (VIDEO)
Hackers Collective Anonymous, a notorious hacktivist group, says it has hacked multiple Nigerian Government websites to join Nigerians in the protest against police brutality.
The hacktivist group disclosed this on Twitter on Wednesday night, using a dedicated account that was created for their Nigerian operations on Monday, October 12.
Twitter has shadow-banned the account, and the message tweeted on Wednesday night has been removed, but you can listen to a snippet of the video below.
The Hackers Anonymous left a message saying the Nigerian government should “expect us”.
“#SARS special police force unit in Nigeria kills innocents. Today 20 more people lost their lives including anons. #Nigeria gov oppression and killings should stop.
We are #Anonymous.
Expect us. #OpNigeria engaged.#AnonDown, ” the Hackers group said.
The group also attached a link to a site showing names and account numbers that looks like the files and account details of police officers.

This is not the first time Hackers Anonymous would be hacking into the websites of the Nigeria government.
In January 2016, the group launched an “Operation Nigeria” warning that they would be taking down multiple Nigerian government websites to force the government to purge the country of corruption and to rid the nation of poverty.
Afterwards, the websites of Nigeria’s Finance, Foreign Affairs, Justice ministries, and the Federal Capital Territory Administration were all down for about 24 hours.
Youths across the country are protesting against acts of police brutality, extortion and illegal incarcerations perpetrated by the police unit, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has disbanded the SARS unit replacing it with a newly formed police unit named Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT).
While promising to make swift reforms in the police to ensure cases of police brutality would never arise again.
But the protesters are not swayed. Many insist they will keep the protest running until they see tangible reforms implemented.
The SARS unit had earlier been disbanded four times in the space of three years. With authorities making similar promises.
