BAUCHI POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN STABBING INCIDENT
In a tragic turn of events, the Bauchi State Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with a culpable homicide case. The incident was reported by Hafizu Salisu of Bauchi Metropolis, who received a distressing phone call from Dayyabu Abdullahi of Unguwa Uku Quarters in Kano.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police discovered the lifeless body of Nafi’u Hafiz, 38, with multiple injuries suspected to be knife stabs. Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, swiftly directed the Divisional Police Officer, SP Abubakar Chika Zaki, to lead a team of detectives in conducting a preliminary investigation.
The victim's body was promptly transported to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where a medical doctor certified him dead. Shockingly, the investigation led to the arrest of Hasfat Surajo, a 24-year-old housewife residing in the same house as the deceased.
Further inquiries at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department revealed a confession by Hasfat, admitting to singlehandedly stabbing the deceased while he was trying to prevent her from committing suicide. Additionally, Dayyabu Abdullahi and the gateman, Mallam Adam, were arrested for allegedly packaging and concealing the dead body to cover up the crime.
A knife stained with the victim's blood was recovered during a discreet investigation. The suspects, including Hasfat Surajo, will face charges in court after the completion of the investigation. This tragic incident sheds light on the complexities surrounding the case, leaving the community in shock and mourning the untimely loss of Nafi’u Hafiz.
