Delta Police Foil Armed Plot, Seize Weapons and Bust Major Drug Ring

The Delta State Police Command has recorded major operational breakthroughs, intercepting an armed group and dismantling a drug syndicate in coordinated, intelligence-led operations across the state.

In the first operation, police operatives on routine stop-and-search duty at the Head Bridge boundary between Anambra and Delta states intercepted a green Toyota Sienna on January 22, 2026, at about 4:10 p.m. A search of the vehicle uncovered a cache of weapons, including three pump-action guns, a locally fabricated dane gun, a battle axe, and 26 live cartridges. Six suspects were arrested and taken into custody, with investigations ongoing.

In a separate raid on January 20, 2026, operatives of the Ugborikoko Division uncovered an organised drug network within the community. Acting on credible intelligence, officers arrested seven suspects and recovered large quantities of illicit substances, including Indian hemp, Canadian loud, Kolorado, Swinol, Tramadol tablets, and drug-processing equipment.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, said the Command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks through proactive and intelligence-driven policing. He urged residents to stay law-abiding and continue providing timely information, assuring that all tips will be treated with strict confidentiality.
