The gunmen also burnt down an amour personnel carrier and a gun truck belonging to the Army during the deadly attack.
A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), Hamidu Abu, said that the terrorists came for the Soldiers’ camp and not for residents of the area.
He said, “They came at about 4 p.m. and due to the sand storms it was difficult for Soldiers to repel them. They burnt down the base including APC and 4 other vehicles. I can’t ascertain if there was any causality figure.”
“We didn’t lose any of our personnel to the attackers, unfortunately the base suffered some damages,” he said.
